The Velveteen Rabbit – Local Dancer Auditions

Auditions for the Page Series performances of ODC’s The Velveteen Rabbit, will be held Saturday, December 8.

Children ages 7-12 who are under five feet tall are invited to audition for this beautiful professional dance production. Dancers should be capable of remembering choreography and dancing in unison. Experience with ballet and/or modern dance is recommended, and we recommend that dancers discuss this opportunity with their instructors prior to auditioning.

The audition will begin with a brief warm up. Dancers will then learn phrases from the production choreography to help assess partnering, use of props, and fit.

Rehearsals will take place in January (see schedule below). Performances are Sunday, January 27 at 3 pm and Monday, January 28 at 10 am (school matinee).

There is no cost to audition, however selected dancers will be responsible for a $55 participation and performance fee.

Rehearsal Schedule

Rehearsals for The Velveteen Rabbit will be held throughout the month of January 2019, and will take place at the Valéncia Arts Center and at the Page Theatre/Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. Because this is a full-length, professional production, the process will be intensive. Please review the schedule to identify any conflicts, and to ensure that this schedule is appropriate for your child. The current rehearsal schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, January 2: 4:30-6:30 pm
Thursday, January 3: 4:30-6:30 pm
Friday, January 4: 4:30-6:30 pm
Saturday, January 5: 12-2 pm

Saturday, January 12: 12-2 pm
Sunday, January 13: 3:30-5:30 pm

Saturday, January 19: 12-2 pm
Sunday, January 20: 3:30-5:30 pm

Rehearsals with ODC will begin Monday, January 21 and are tentatively scheduled for:
Monday, January 21: 4-7 pm
Tuesday, January 22: 5:30-8 pm
Wednesday, January 23: time TBD
Thursday, January 24: 4:30-8 pm
Friday, January 25: time TBD

The production week schedule will be finalized as soon as possible.
