Joy Davis Ripley
Visible/Invisible: Landscapes of Mental Illness

February 24 – April 3, 2020

Joy Davis Ripley’s “Visible / Invisible: Landscapes of Mental Illness” is an exhibition that aims to dispel the stigma and shame surrounding mental illness. It consists of portraits and portions of interviews from Winonans who have been impacted by mental illness. The portraits are set in landscapes that accord with how the subjects experience their illness or their journey toward healing. With raw honesty, the interviews highlight the day-to-day lives circumscribed by mental illness. With this project, Davis Ripley hopes to initiate open-minded community conversations centered around mental health.
