Modern Dance Master Class

This class will include an Afro-Cuban warm up and give students the opportunity to learn repertoire from a section of one of Ballet Hispánico’s pieces. This class is open to intermediate and advanced dancers of high school age and older.

Movement Workshop

This free movement workshop will explore Afro-Cuban and Latin social dance styles and culture. All ability levels are welcome. Modified movement, including participation from a chair, will be offered.

A Page in History

Learn about Ballet Hispánico and their work from the company’s artistic director and CEO, Eduardo Vilaro. Mr. Vilaro has infused Ballet Hispánico’s legacy with a bold and eclectic brand of contemporary dance that reflects America’s changing cultural landscape. Born in Cuba and raised in New York from the age of six, he is a frequent speaker on the merits of cultural diversity and dance education. Vilaro also founded Luna Negra Dance Theater, who performed at the Page Theatre as part of the 2011-12 Page Series.

Unlocking Creativity with Eduardo Vilaro

This workshop, led by Eduardo Vilaro, is ideal for non-profit organization staff and board members, business professionals, and community leaders. Through the exploration of choreographic principles, movement invention, and process development, participants will explore how their creative capacity can unleash new perspectives and practices for their field. Ballet Master Class

Latin Social Dance Lesson

Bring a friend and enjoy a fun night of Latin dance rhythms with Ballet Hispánico! The evening will start with a 50-minute lesson, including instruction in Salsa and Merengue, followed by a community dance for participants to try out their new skills. This event is open to participants of all ages and abilities. No experience necessary.

Pre-performance Talk

Ballet Hispánico Artistic Director and CEO, Eduardo Vilaro will lead a pre-concert talk for audience members who will attend the 7:30 pm performance.  Gain insight into Ballet Hispánico’s mission, vision and repertory, as Mr. Vilaro discusses what it means to be a Latinx dance company in today’s cultural landscape. The discussion will include a description of each of the works on the program, the evolution of the program, the need for more diversity and representation in the dance field and the ins and outs of dance curation. Included in the talk is a history of Ballet Hispanico as it prepares to celebrate its 50th anniversary as an American dance company. A brief question and answer session will conclude the talk.
